At Priority Paediatrics, we understand that urgent medical concerns can arise for your child, and timely access to a paediatrician is essential. Our Rapid Access service provides quick and efficient appointments for non-critical issues, allowing you to receive the care your child needs without visiting the Emergency Department. What is Rapid Access at Priority Paediatrics?

Rapid Access is a service that provides quick appointments with paediatricians for urgent, non-critical issues. Our doctors also work at the Women's and Children's Hospital.

When can I get an appointment?

  • In-clinic appointments: Available within 7 days.

  • Telehealth appointments: Often available within 1-2 days, sometimes even sooner.

 

Who can use Rapid Access?

  • Patients referred by their General Practitioner (GP) or local Emergency Department.

  • Patients can also self-refer for a quicker appointment, but Medicare will not provide a rebate for self-referred appointments.

What should I do if my child needs immediate attention?

If your child requires immediate medical attention, go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 000.

 

Why can I get an appointment so quickly?

We reserve specific appointments just for Rapid Access. These appointments are released 7 days in advance. Additionally, our paediatricians offer Telehealth consultations, allowing for flexibility and extra appointments at short notice. Referrals are prioritized, and those meeting the criteria for Rapid Access will be seen within 7 days or less.

How do I make a Rapid Access appointment?

You can book a Rapid Access appointment by contacting our office directly, whether you have a referral or are self-referring.
